Feeling poetic

I stumbled upon Tyler Knott’s blog (tylerknott.com) while paying a visit to my dear friend Cassi’s blog – Milan Road (milanroad.tumblr.com). Tyler writes beautiful poetry. He has a Daily Haiku on Love which is a simple 3 line prose about love. He also does this Typewriter Series where he composes poems on unique pieces of paper –  His writing touches my soul and I have been overwhelmed with him today.

In reading his poetry I have begun feeling a bit poetic myself. In the past, poetry has been an outlet for me when times are tough, the sky is gray and the world seems to be crumbling down upon me. When I am pure happiness and love and light, then I find that I do not write what I feel, but rather I just live what I feel.  Well, since I am feeling so inspired today with poetry, and my life is overflowing with joy, I figured I would share that joy in the form of a poem.

When the canopy lifts and little pieces of light

Start to speckle the ground on which I stand,

I feel the warmth of you.

And sorrow is not here. And fortune will be found.

This crater of love, overflows and refills with treasures

we have been cultivating.

Let the branches reach and the grasses grow tall.

Together, we will walk through the silver waves of our fate.

~Abigail

Perhaps tomorrow or sometime in the future I will share other pieces I have written in the past. This little poem was written just today, for this blog. I hope you enjoy.

We’ll grow together

We fall like feathers
oh, but we can fly like wings
if we’re together.

~Tyler Knott

We’ll stretch like branches
and we will anchor like roots.
We’ll grow together.

Zippin’ up my boots

Zippin’ up my boots
Goin’ back to my roots
Yeah

To the place of my birth
Back down to earth.

I’ve been standing in the rain

Drenched and soaked with pain

Tired of short time benefits
And being exposed to the elements.
I’m homeward bound
Got my head turned around.

Zippin’ up my boots
Goin’ back to my roots
Yeah

To the place of my birth
Back down to earth.
Ain’t talkin’ ’bout no roots in the land

Talkin’ ’bout the roots in the man.
I feel my spirit gettin’ old
It’s time to recharge my soul
I’m zippin’ up my boots
Goin’ back to my roots
Yeah

To the place of my birth
Back down to earth.

Zippin’ up my boots
Goin’ back to my roots.
To the place of my birth
Back down to earth.

“You are what you seek.”

Not sure if this is an original quote by me. But it just hit my brain. So I wrote it down.

Intoxicating Lyrics

Lyrics to Drunkard’s Prayer :

You’re my water
You’re my wine
You’re my whiskey
From time to timeYou’re the hunger
On my bones
All the nights
I sleep aloneSweet intoxication
When your words
Wash over me

Whether or not
Your lips move
You speak to me

Like an ocean
Without waves
You’re the movement
That I crave

And in that motion
I long to drown
And be lost not to be found
You’re my water
You’re my wine
You’re my whiskey
From time to time
